They Thought I Would Grow Out Of It

So many people thought I was a strange girl....They still do. None the less they thought I would grow out of that horse crazy stage. Ha!
Ever since I was a wee lass I have adored horses. I was tying things up to chairs like horses, eating apples and carrots, running around on all fours, braiding manes and tails of my toys (not playing with dolls) , some of my favorite movies were of horses, talking horse and looking at pictures of horses. Yeah, obsessive. My mom still says she worried about all that behavior. Weird.  She did finally realize that I may not grow out of it! Indeed I did not!
My first horse ever was this old man,  Boe. What a sweetheart and made me love horses all the more!! I was devastated when he passed away.

My room collected tons of model horses. What I think is great, is that most of the models are in couples and have a baby to match.

the 4H fair was dreamy. so many horses...

In 2004 grandparents took me to The Dakotas to trail ride! Best thing ever!!!

I was 11ish here and had three horses. Two we were boarding and one that was mine. Shar was a crazy little paint pony that I just loved.

I mainly rode bare foot and still do... that's  probably why I have weird scars/calluses on my ankles.

My favorite thing to do on this spunky pony was run!   I loved my ponies!  I had to give them up a little before I turned 13.

then at 13-14ish I still loved horses and dad took me on trails as I didn't have a horse!

Friends took me to ride awesome horses. I was thrilled beyond measure!

Grandparents took me on rad trail rides in the Dakotas again!

Wagon rides with theses boys

Horses I played with four years ago!

Even goofing off on stuffed horses. Thank God I lost weight.... geee

Birthday trips to see horses at MSU

Lots of petting and wishing I had a horse!

Loving on other people's horses.

then 39 months ago I got my own.

I loved her even if she was lice covered and skinnier then a twig.

Horse expos that made me so happy!

meeting new horse heroes.

Training my own horse and developing skills

Then a year ago! Having fun with my mare! Emily, one of my best buds, took these amazing photos and they are definitely some of my favorites!

I just ADORE these photos and need to have some more taken this year!

And now days I ride in all weather. Even when its below 20*
People call me crazy. I like to call it dedication with obsessive behavior thrown in.

not even cold days can stop me! Who wants to sit inside when you can ride!?

I love life at the stable

Freeze my face off in the winter.

Midnight rides are oh so fun.

This is my normal side.... As you can see the horse is used to it.

anything horse is just so fun and having friends to share in it is even more fun!

playing with other horses

playing around like some weird horse people do

Horse yoga

Taking buddies to horse expos. I just cant miss the MSU expo.

As you can see... I never lost that horse crazy girl. In my opinion it's more intense then ever before! I still have horse pictures everywhere, still have horse models all over my room, I have over 200 horse books and more magazines then I can count. As friends can attest, I have always been that strange horse crazy girl. I hope I never grow out of it!!!  I hope to improve my riding skills everyday and pray that God can use this weird passion for His work!
